Moosapet residents urged HYDRAA during its weekly Prajavani to protect 6.18 acres of government land worth around Rs 600 crore from alleged encroachments. The government had earmarked 10.18 acres between Kukatpally and Moosapet: 4 acres to HMWSSB for water treatment plant, 2 acres for government schools. Land was handed to Education department in 2023 but schools were never built. Private organisations have encroached on school site and remaining 4.18 acres by erecting sheds. Residents sought fencing of land. Additionally, residents complained of concrete plant in Survey No. 419 of Dundigal village causing air and noise pollution near schools and residential colonies. Residents of Kuntloor village in Abdullapurmet mandal sought protection of 100 acres of Bhoodan and government land in Survey Nos. 215-224, alleging large-scale encroachments. Meeting received 42 total grievances.

Cyberabad Economic Offences Wing registered a case against White Waters Constructions Private Limited and directors Ajay Salike, Tanay Salike and Vijayalakshmi for cheating homebuyers. The company allegedly collected Rs 9.82 crore from 15 buyers and Rs 270 crore from approximately 500 people under the project near Moosapet Y Junction.

A woman visited the company office in December 2018 and paid Rs 11 lakh to book a 1,650 sq ft flat in a 816-unit housing project. The builder later increased the flat size to 1,945 sq yards and raised total cost to Rs 92.10 lakh. A sale agreement was signed in 2022.

Builder promised delivery by December 2024, later extended to December 2025, but construction remains incomplete. The woman discovered her allotted flat was registered in another person's name with a Rs 1.27 crore loan against it. Directors assured the loan would be cleared and registration completed in her name, but this did not happen.

At least 15 other buyers paid Rs 9.82 crore under similar circumstances. Investigation underway to identify other affected buyers and determine full extent of fraud.

HMDA has announced e-auctions of 44 acres of government land in Kokapet and Moosapet targeting about Rs 5,000 crore in revenue. Upset price fixed at Rs 99 crore per acre for Neopolis layout in Kokapet.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation conducted a GIS-based survey using drone imagery and high-resolution mapping between August 2024 and December 2025, assessing over six lakh properties. Over one lakh property owners were identified as having collectively evaded over Rs 100 crore in tax through under-assessment over several years.

Under-assessed properties are concentrated in Serilingampally, Chandanagar, Moosapet, Kukatpally, and LB Nagar circles. The under-assessment largely occurred between 2020 and 2023 when GHMC allowed self-assessment and stopped issuing notices under Section 213 of the GHMC Act, 1955 requiring property owners to furnish details on plinth area, nature of usage, and sanctioned building plans.

Most under-assessed properties are commercial buildings or rental complexes. Many owners converted residential buildings to commercial establishments without updating records. Examples include: permissions obtained for godowns but used as retail stores; commercial buildings over 10,000 sft declared as residential with 3,000-3,500 sft reported for tax; buildings with raised residential floors without approvals; owners collecting rent from multiple tenants but declaring only few units for tax purposes.

Properties that should pay Rs 10,000-Rs 15,000 annually were paying barely Rs 5,000. GHMC estimates close to 20 lakh properties exist within limits; final defaulter count expected to rise as survey continues.

GHMC integrated Property Tax Identification Numbers with electricity connections from TGSPDCL for cross-verification. Of 14,999 properties undergoing field verification, Rs 7.40 crore in additional revenue was collected. GHMC has issued notices to defaulters to clear dues.

Out of the lake's total 19 acres, nearly 6 acres have been encroached upon. Soil dumped within the lake bed must be removed to restore storage capacity. Stormwater drains carrying overflow from Nagireddy Kunta to Kapra lake have been blocked or diverted at multiple locations due to illegal constructions. Gated communities including Golf Pride Homes, Malabar Greens Villas, Haripriya Nagar, Golf View Paradise, and Swarna Andhra Phases 01 and 02 have altered or obstructed natural stormwater drain courses. The Fox Sagar flood drain in Jeedimetla has been heavily encroached upon, shrinking from its original 30-metre width to 10 metres near residential areas. Under the culvert at Balanagar Jinkala Wada and Deendayal Nagar, the drain has narrowed from an ideal 40 metres (22 metres plus 9-metre buffers on both sides) to 10 metres. Heavy encroachment is causing widespread flooding affecting Fatehnagar and Balanagar slums. HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath directed officials to conduct full drone surveys, remove all encroachments, and desilt soil under Fox Sagar lake to restore natural stormwater flow. He stated that drains in Kukatpally and Jeedimetla have become more dangerous than the Musi river. Areas like Bharat Nagar, Moosapet, Balanagar, Jinkalawada, Deendayal Nagar, Vinayak Nagar, and Kalyan Nagar are being submerged. Officials completed flood-prevention channel works in Swarna Andhra Phase-1, Yapral.
