Magathane is a sub-locality of Borivali East comprising housing societies, SRA buildings, narrow roads and a metro rail line parallel to Western Express Highway, bordering Sanjay Gandhi National Park. MHADA’s 2026 affordable-housing lottery offers 2,640 Mumbai flats through computerised online allotment. More than 82,000 applications were received in two months; the deadline is May 28. Recent progress includes widening of Akurli Subway road in Kandivali East completed under MP Piyush Goyal's leadership. Uncontrolled hawking disrupts the community, with footpaths packed with hawkers and vendors especially during evening hours, making pedestrian navigation difficult. Residents request designated hawker zones to alleviate footpath congestion. Local MLA has initiated new parking areas and road enhancements.
