The transfer deed was registered on February 28, 2025; there were 15 sellers, including Upendra Trikamdas Kapadia. One of the buyer’s directors is Elina Nikhil Meswani, wife of Reliance Industries executive director Nikhil R. Meswani.
  • The property has approximately 19,891.87 sq. ft. of built-up area on 2,221 sq. yards of land. It includes a ground floor, two upper floors, and a rear horizontal floor with an upper floor. The land has development potential of around 45,000 sq. ft. of built-up area.
  • Between 1942 and 1945, the bungalow served as a secret hideout for Quit India Movement leaders, including Ram Manohar Lohia, Jaiprakash Narayan, Achyut Patwardhan and Aruna Asaf Ali. It also served as a broadcasting centre for Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s Azad Hind Radio. The Kapadia family bought it from a Parsi family for about ₹1.20 lakh in 1917.
MCD Expands Delhi Crackdown on Unsafe and Unauthorised Buildings

Delhi’s civic body stepped up demolitions and inspections after a Satya Niketan building collapse killed seven people and injured at least five.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) continued enforcement across all 12 zones, including controlled demolition of the building adjoining the one that collapsed in Satya Niketan on September 6. The collapse of a paying guest (PG) accommodation killed seven and injured at least five.

Between September 7 and 9, MCD surveyed 1,252 PG buildings: 39 needed minor repairs, nine major repairs and three were deemed dangerous; one dangerous building has been demolished.

From June 1 to September 9, MCD carried out 1,053 demolition actions, sealed 491 properties and issued 2,316 show-cause notices and 757 demolition notices. On September 9, it conducted 34 demolitions and 17 sealing operations. Actions included demolitions in Narela, South, Central, Keshavpuram, Shahdara (North), West and City-SP zones, and sealing four properties for misuse in Civil Lines, including Vardhman Mall.

Enforcement also took place in Laxmi Nagar, Jagatpuri, Pandav Nagar, Vishwas Nagar, Mukherjee Nagar, Jamia Nagar, Shaheen Bagh, Tilak Nagar, Karam Pura, Karol Bagh, Ramesh Nagar, Mansarovar Garden, Chandni Chowk, Nehru Vihar, Deep Enclave Part-II, Vikas Nagar, Prem Nagar, Kala Mahal, Jama Masjid and Sant Nagar A-1 Block Extension. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta directed citywide inspections, especially of PG accommodation and construction and height violations.
