Underground drainage works at Gandi Maisamma junction, under Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC), began ahead of summer and were scheduled for three months but extended by two months. Road width reduced due to excavated spoil dumped roadside. Vehicles from Balanagar, Jeedimetla, Suraram connecting to Gandi Maisamma, plus engineering college buses, TGSRTC buses, and goods vehicles face delays during peak hours. Similar work continuing towards Bachupally, Nizampet, and Miyapur with excavated earth piled high. Commuters to Nizampet, Miyapur, and Gachibowli (IT Corridor) experiencing major traffic jams. Recent rains caused rainwater stagnation covering 50% of road, with traffic police absent from junction. Deputy Commissioner CMC stated underground drainage work completed; road junction work to finish by night. Gandi Maisamma is rapidly expanding educational hub with multiple engineering colleges and hundreds of housing projects.

Out of the lake's total 19 acres, nearly 6 acres have been encroached upon. Soil dumped within the lake bed must be removed to restore storage capacity. Stormwater drains carrying overflow from Nagireddy Kunta to Kapra lake have been blocked or diverted at multiple locations due to illegal constructions. Gated communities including Golf Pride Homes, Malabar Greens Villas, Haripriya Nagar, Golf View Paradise, and Swarna Andhra Phases 01 and 02 have altered or obstructed natural stormwater drain courses. The Fox Sagar flood drain in Jeedimetla has been heavily encroached upon, shrinking from its original 30-metre width to 10 metres near residential areas. Under the culvert at Balanagar Jinkala Wada and Deendayal Nagar, the drain has narrowed from an ideal 40 metres (22 metres plus 9-metre buffers on both sides) to 10 metres. Heavy encroachment is causing widespread flooding affecting Fatehnagar and Balanagar slums. HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath directed officials to conduct full drone surveys, remove all encroachments, and desilt soil under Fox Sagar lake to restore natural stormwater flow. He stated that drains in Kukatpally and Jeedimetla have become more dangerous than the Musi river. Areas like Bharat Nagar, Moosapet, Balanagar, Jinkalawada, Deendayal Nagar, Vinayak Nagar, and Kalyan Nagar are being submerged.
