A building behind Premsukh Talkies on Jawahar Marg, in Indore’s Daulat Ganj area, collapsed around 9 p.m. on Monday, September 22. It had shops on the ground floor and residential quarters above. Reports described it as both a three-storey building with a basement and a two-storey house; it was reportedly about eight years old.

Two people died—Faheem and 20-year-old Alifa—and 12 were injured. Officials said 14 people were rescued, including a child; one woman had a severe leg injury and the other 11 injured people were stable. Earlier reports said 13 people were suspected trapped, 10 had been taken to hospital, and about 40–45% of the building had collapsed.

Officials said the structure was reportedly weak and built without proper beams and columns; continuous water accumulation around it was believed to have contributed. Municipal Corporation, police, district administration, SDERF and Civil Defence teams, assisted by residents, used excavators and JCBs in the rescue operation.
