Of 512 identified beneficiaries, 272 are single-beneficiary households. Families with two eligible members have already received one unit; remaining applicants will be accommodated in a second phase.
Madurai Veeran said only one of his mother and sister appeared on the list; officials told him his sister had received a house under another unit, so his mother would be considered in the second phase.
A proposal for 298 additional units on the old fish market site was submitted to the State government. Construction will begin after funds are sanctioned.
