BBMP reclaimed 1.7 guntas (about 1,900 square feet) of land around Hoodi Lake in Mahadevapura, Bengaluru, on Monday. The site included a shed, an open space and a compound wall, which were cleared.

Bengaluru received 17.3 mm of rain between 3.30 and 5 pm on Monday, flooding roads in Hennur, Doddanekundi, Okalipuram, ITPL, Kasturinagar and Indiranagar, as well as Shivananda Circle and Hoodi underpasses. Waterlogging affected roads near Samhita Serenity Apartment in Doddanekundi, the Hebbal Flyover Airport-bound down ramp, Rainbow Service Road towards Mahadevapura, Kasturinagar down ramp towards Hebbal, Windsor Manor Bridge towards High Ground Junction and roads in Kodigehalli near Yelahanka. Water receded after the rain, but traffic disruption continued. Officials said these areas flood regularly. Vent work at Geddalahalli has reduced flooding in Sai Layout and Vaddarapalya; the corporation is pursuing Railway Department work on underpasses at Hoodi and Panathur. Trees and branches fell in Indiranagar and HAL 2nd Stage and were cleared. Traffic was also affected across numerous routes, including Airport Road, Koramangala Inner Ring Road and HBR Layout Main Road in Nagavara. GKVK recorded 52.5 mm, Chikkaballapur 42.5 mm, HAL Airport 5.3 mm and KIA 3.8 mm. The IMD forecast more rain in south-interior and coastal Karnataka on Tuesday.

Bengaluru East and North city corporations intensified flood-mitigation work after heavy monsoon showers, clearing blocked pipelines and deploying pumps across vulnerable localities. At the Hoodi railway underpass, water is being pumped out temporarily, and railway officials have been asked to clear silt from a pipeline.

Construction has begun on the long-delayed Hope Farm Junction underpass in Whitefield, more than 11 years after it was proposed. The ₹35-crore project has a target completion time of roughly 200 days. The 300-metre underpass will let traffic between Whitefield and Kadugodi pass below the junction without signals; vehicles travelling between ITPL and Chandapura will use the surface road. Traffic from the four corridors currently converges at the junction, where signal cycles can last nearly 120 seconds.

Six private properties must be acquired; disputes over compensation through Transferable Development Rights (TDR) or cash delayed the project. Nearly 30 trees will be cut or relocated; around eight have been cleared. Retaining-wall work has started on the Kadugodi side, and temporary service roads are being developed. Work on the opposite side has not begun.

The underpass is part of a ₹140-crore eastern Bengaluru traffic package that also includes an underpass at Big Bazaar Junction and a Hoodi flyover. Little physical progress has been made on those projects.
