LDA will spend ₹20 crore to restore Hazratganj's heritage character through structural changes, façade renovation, and enforced architectural standards.

LDA received ₹20 crore budget for remodelling and beautification of Hazratganj, the commercial and heritage heart of Lucknow. Project covers stretch from GPO at Hazratganj intersection to district magistrate's residence. Work includes flooring changes, façade renovation, heritage lighting, painting buildings in notified colour scheme, key connecting roads, footpaths, uniform streetlight poles, and new signboards. Tender issued. All commercial and residential buildings must conform to uniform architectural standards. LDA will enforce compliance and issue notices to violators who made illegal modifications. Guidelines require signboards with white lettering on black background, maximum word height 300 mm. Building exteriors must follow pink and yellow colour scheme with uniform window and signage design. December 2024: LDA removed banners and glow signboards from over 20 shops and issued nearly 200 notices for violations including exceeding permitted signage size of 750 mm, using non-standard fonts, and ignoring colour and design specifications.
