Uttar Pradesh has begun planning a new Vidhan Sabha complex on Sahara Shahar land in Vipul Khand, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow.

Uttar Pradesh has initiated planning for a new legislative assembly complex on Sahara Shahar land in Vipul Khand, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow. The land, originally owned by Lucknow Municipal Corporation and Lucknow Development Authority and leased to Sahara Group, was taken over by the state government after legal and administrative proceedings.

The existing assembly building is nearly a century old. The proposed complex is expected to provide greater capacity, enhanced security and a paperless e-Assembly system, with upgraded facilities for legislators and officials. The government has begun the process of appointing an expert consultant to prepare the design and assess financial and administrative feasibility. LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar said the government issued directions to appoint the consultant.
