Shri Dnyaneshwar Cooperative Housing Society, also known as Panchavati Society, in Dhankawadi became the first Pune housing society to secure freehold status under Maharashtra’s land-conversion policy. Built in 2007-08, it has around 400 members; office-bearers separately said it had 457 members. The society applied in 2024 after beginning the process six years earlier. It paid around ₹1.5 crore in premium, while office-bearers said around ₹5 crore was paid to the government.

On February 20, the state revenue department extended the application deadline to December 31, 2025. A March 4 notification allows leasehold and occupancy (class 2) land to convert to freehold (class 1) for a premium of up to 25% of the land’s ready reckoner rate. The scheme has been in place since 2018.

Freehold status eases conveyance, allows flat sales without government approval and enables redevelopment without legal hurdles. Pune District Residential Deputy Collector Jyoti Kadam said residents are coming forward to apply. Societies cite difficulties collecting old land documents and contributions from members.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) plans to repair city potholes within a week, with the municipal commissioner personally monitoring work. Standing committee chairman Shrinath Bhimale urged officials to prioritise safety and use experienced contractors. The PMC is considering assistance for the family of a 10-year-old boy killed in an accident on Sus-Mhalunge Road, subject to a group leaders’ meeting and Supreme Court directions.

The standing committee approved two batch-mix asphalt plants at Shindewadi with combined capacity of 160 tonnes per hour, costing ₹8.90 crore. Parker Plant India Pvt Ltd was selected through a B-2 tender. The facility will occupy about 5.36 acres (21,700 sq m) of civic land at Shindewadi octroi naka, currently used by PMPML for scrap storage. It will ease pressure on Yerawada’s 120-TPH plant, operating since 2016 and producing 7 lakh–7.5 lakh metric tonnes. The new plant will serve Katraj, Gujarwadi, Kolewadi, Undri, Bibvewadi, Kondhwa-Yewalewadi, Dhankawadi, Sinhagad Road, Warje-Karvenagar and newly merged southern areas.

Pavetech Consulting Engineering Services will assess 136 km of roads and footpaths for the January 2027 Pune Grand Tour, using technical and automated surveys and GIS-based maintenance reports. Its fee is 1.5% of actual works expenditure across packages one to four; 5% of its post-tender fee is payable after the defect liability period. Contractor and consultant payments will be staged over three years, with contractors receiving 10% of dues each year.

Pune Municipal Corporation is preparing to invite tenders for a proposed tunnel connecting Hingne on Sinhagad Road with Dhankawadi on Satara Road, intended to shorten travel time between Sinhagad and Satara roads.

MSEDCL maintenance at the Vadgaon water treatment plant will temporarily halt operations from 12 noon to 2 PM on July 31, 2025, causing low water pressure in Hingne, Dhayari, Katraj, Ambegaon, Anandnagar, Vadgaon and surrounding areas. Other affected localities include Dattnagar, Dhanakwadi, Bharati Vidyapeeth campus, Kondhwa Budruk, Ambegaon Khurd and Budruk, Yewalewadi, Sahakarnagar (Part 2), Ambedkarnagar, Tilaknagar and the area near Date bus stop. Santosh Nagar, Satchaimata Tank area, Sunda Mata Nagar, Wonder City, Morebag, Balajinagar, Kedareshwar Tank area, both sectors of Sukh Sagar Nagar, and parts of old wards 38 and 41 may also face reduced pressure. Pune Municipal Corporation advised residents to conserve water and store it in advance if needed.
