The ₹10-crore, 120-metre skywalk provides a second entry and exit to Cotton Market Metro station, spans Cotton Market Square and connects the station to the Lohapul side. It has two lifts and a staircase, providing barrier-free access for senior citizens, persons with disabilities and other commuters. MahaMetro said the bridge received all mandatory statutory clearances. Its opening completes the last pending infrastructure component of Nagpur Metro Phase 1.

Plans include logistics parks at the city’s four corners and possible “Transport Nagars” on its outskirts. Infrastructure development is planned along the Sindi dry port–Butibori corridor; major cities in every direction are within a 1.5–2-hour flight from Nagpur. Gadkari said the central jail’s relocation has been decided, tenders to redevelop Cotton Market and Santra Market will be issued soon, and land acquisition has begun to four-lane the Mayo Hospital–Shaheed Chowk road. Godowns and market areas in congested parts of the city, including Kirana Market, are to move to Kalamana to reduce traffic and pollution. He spoke at the Confederation of Indian Industry’s “Logistics Talent for Tomorrow” seminar on Saturday.
