Soil and boulders from an adjoining hillock fell on three shanties in Gaushiya Chawl in Ashok Nagar locality of Chirag Nagar. Two persons are feared trapped. Rescue operations were ongoing on the second day.

Landslide occurred at 3:48 a.m. at Gaushiya Chawl in Ashok Nagar locality, Chirag Nagar, near Rathod Medical, Kurla West. BMC classified as level II incident. Seven dead, four injured, one person initially trapped under debris. Debris fell on nearby chawl rooms; six to eight persons trapped initially. Identified deceased: Mohammad Asif Mohammad Aleem (28), Sohel Ansari (18), Mohamad Ansari (14), and four others. NDRF and 50 BMC personnel conducted rescue operations. BMC Mayor Ritu Tawade announced ₹4 lakh compensation per deceased family and ₹50,000 per injured person. Congress MP Varsha Gaikwad alleged BMC negligence in pre-monsoon works and cited April request for safety audit of vulnerable areas in Kurla and Ghatkopar and construction of protective walls. Soil and debris from hillside collapsed onto two to three houses. Site access narrow, allowing one person to pass at a time.
