PM Modi inaugurated the District Court to Swargate underground metro section on 29 September 2024 via video conference, completing Pune Metro Phase-1. Cost: ₹1,810 crore. Foundation stone laid for Swargate-Katraj extension (5.46 km, completely underground, ₹2,955 crore) with three stations: Market Yard, Padmavati, and Katraj. Extension connects Padmavati, Balaji Nagar, Dhankawadi, and Katraj to metro network.

Phase-1 includes two lines: PCMC to Swargate and Vanaz to Ramwadi. District Court to Swargate section connects Kasba Peth, Budhwar Peth, Mandai, and Swargate. Passenger services commenced 4 pm same day. Travel time PCMC to Swargate: 34 minutes. Fare: ₹35. Interchange at District Court Metro Station available for Vanaz to Ramwadi line passengers.

Budhwar Peth-Kasba Peth Station serves Lal Mahal, Shaniwar Wada, Kasba Ganapati area. Mandai Station serves Mahatma Phule Mandai, Tulshi Baug, Bhandi Market, Dagdusheth Ganapati Temple. Swargate Metro Station forms Multi-Modal Integration Hub near ST Station and PMPML Bus Depot. Underground pedestrian walkway to connect Swargate Metro Station to ST Station planned.

PM Modi inaugurated Pune Metro's District Court to Swargate segment. He laid the foundation stone for the Swargate-Katraj extension of Pune Metro Phase-1. Pune Metro Rail announced passenger services on the underground corridor from District Court (Shivajinagar Court) to Swargate commence September 29, 2024 at 4:00 PM, after PM Modi's virtual inauguration on September 26. Passengers from Vanaz and Ramwadi stations can interchange to this route.

Commuters advised to use alternative routes: Jedhe Chowk through Volga Chowk, Swatantraveer Savarkar Statue Chowk. Traffic towards Solapur Road from Satara Road flyover expected to function normally.
