Madhya Pradesh approved a 21-kilometre, eight-lane Indore-Pithampur corridor, pairing industrial development with land pooling and planned housing and commercial projects.

The Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) board, chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, approved the ₹2,360-crore corridor on Tuesday. The 21-kilometre, eight-lane route will connect Indore to AB Road in Pithampur, improving links between the city, airport and industrial area.

An industrial zone extending 3–5 kilometres on both sides will cover 1,290.74 hectares (about 3,200 acres). Under land pooling, farmers will receive 60% of developed land, compared with the usual 50%, and may establish industries or sell the plots. They may instead choose compensation under the state’s land acquisition policy.

Farmers from 17 villages are expected to benefit. More than 450 appeals are pending with the appellate authority in Bhopal; consent has been secured for several hundred hectares and registration has begun. MPIDC is developing the project under a public-private partnership model.

Plans include employee and business-owner housing, residential colonies, shops, malls, shopping complexes and offices. The corridor is expected to support investment, employment and logistics for Pithampur’s automobile, engineering and pharmaceutical industries.
