IHG Hotels & Resorts announced a franchise agreement for a 40-key Garner Hotel Ahmedabad Motera in Gujarat, scheduled to open in 2029. Garner Hotel is IHG's newest midscale conversion brand in India. The agreement strengthens IHG's partnership with UHM and expands branded hospitality offerings in high-growth destinations. IHG currently operates 53 hotels across six brands in India with a pipeline of 110 hotels due to open in the next 3–5 years. Managing Director Sudeep Jain stated the hotel is a meaningful addition to IHG's India growth strategy reflecting the brand's appeal for high-potential markets.

Gujarat High Court dismissed appeals by Sant Shri Asharam Trust challenging takeover of over 45,000 square metres of land in Motera, Ahmedabad, near Narendra Modi Stadium. Land earmarked for proposed Sardar Patel Sports Complex ahead of 2030 Commonwealth Games. Division Bench of Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal and Justice D.N. Ray upheld earlier single-judge orders dismissing trust's challenge to eviction notices issued by revenue authorities on grounds of encroachment and violations of allotment conditions. Trust had approached court after Gujarat Revenue Tribunal rejected its petition challenging eviction initiated by mamlatdar. Trust argued action was not bona fide but aimed at acquiring land under guise of removing encroachments to facilitate government's sports infrastructure plan. High Court rejected these submissions. Bench found trust violated terms and conditions of government land allotment and expanded occupation beyond sanctioned boundaries. Court recorded that adjoining open land including Sabarmati riverbelts had been encroached upon. Court ruled such occupation could not be regularised and stated riverbed land encroachment could not be legalised. Court declined trust's request for four-week stay to appeal to higher court. State government pleader informed court fresh eviction notices would be issued with sufficient compliance time.

Ahmedabad will host the centenary Commonwealth Games in 2030, featuring 15–17 sports. Confirmed events include athletics and para-athletics, swimming and para-swimming, table tennis and para-table tennis, bowls, weightlifting and para-powerlifting, artistic gymnastics, netball and boxing; cricket T20, hockey, badminton, cycling, shooting, wrestling, squash and triathlon are under consideration.

Existing facilities include Narendra Modi Stadium. Plans cover sports development along the Sabarmati Riverfront and links between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, with multi-purpose venues intended for continued use after the Games.

CEPT University researchers estimate Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar will need around 40,000 hotel rooms, against roughly 18,000 available—a gap of about 22,000. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation data indicate nine hotel projects were approved in 2025 and four in 2026. Five five-star projects are planned on Sindhu Bhavan Road, three under construction. Plans also include a 200–300-room five-star hotel and convention and exhibition centre on the Sabarmati’s western bank, plus hotels near the airport.

Potential development zones include Stadium-Motera, SG Highway-Prahladnagar, GIFT City expansion, Dholera SIR Phase II and Ahmedabad’s Walled City. Planned improvements include roads, bridges, public transport, rail, water, drainage and pedestrian infrastructure.

Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, built on the former Motera Stadium site, is commonly listed at 132,000 capacity; the Gujarat Cricket Association says it can hold more than 1.3 lakh, while the IPL directory lists 135,000. It has 76 corporate boxes, four dressing rooms, nine practice pitches, an indoor cricket academy and roof-mounted LED lighting designed to reduce shadows. The stadium is part of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave, with Ahmedabad set to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games.

The original Gujarat Stadium opened in 1983 and was later called Motera Stadium and Sardar Patel Stadium; its capacity was about 49,000. It was demolished in 2015, and replacement construction began in 2017, designed by Populous and built by Larsen & Toubro. Work was substantially completed in February 2020. President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated and renamed it on 24 February 2021.

On 31 May 2026, Ahmedabad hosted the IPL final after operational concerns ruled out Bengaluru; Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat Gujarat Titans by five wickets, retaining the championship.

The Realty & Beyond Summit in Ahmedabad will examine residential demand, premiumisation, affordability, redevelopment, and commercial growth.
