The Telangana High Court ordered HYDRAA to pay ₹1 lakh in damages to petitioners for fencing private land at Mallapur, calling the action high-handed and contrary to earlier court rulings. Justice NV Shravan Kumar directed the agency to remove the fence immediately and pay the petitioners ₹1 lakh per day until it is removed.

The order came in two petitions concerning separate 500-square-yard plots at Bhabhanagar Cooperative Housing Society Ltd in Mallapur village, Uppal mandal. The petitioners said a trial court had confirmed their ownership and that its ruling had not been challenged. GHMC and the LB Nagar zonal commissioner were aware of the trial court orders.

The State government had allotted 23.28 acres in Survey Nos. 29/1 and 30 at Moula Ali-Nacharam village to Telangana Agros Industries Development Corporation. Nearly four acres bordering Durga Nagar, Kamala Bai Nagar and Baba Nagar had been encroached upon.

After Telangana Agros Chairman Kasula Balaraju complained, HYDRAA, acting on Commissioner AV Ranganath’s directions, removed temporary sheds, unauthorised scrap yards, waste-segregation structures and unlawful commercial rental sheds. Existing residential houses were not disturbed. The reclaimed land was secured with precast fencing and compound walls.

Officials allege that Lavanya used forged documents to divide and sell over two acres as residential plots; she was arrested after a case was registered at Nacharam Police Station. Telangana Agros employee Raju is accused of occupying 1,200 square yards. Mahender allegedly encroached on more than 2,000 square yards, divided it into plots, built sheds and rented them out for lakhs of rupees. Notices were issued to those involved. No residential colonies in Mallapur division were affected.

GHMC inaugurated a two-acre park for residents of Mallapur in Ward No. 5, Kapra, on Saturday. The ₹2.9-crore park includes a selfie wall, fountain, gazebo with flower creepers, badminton court, skating rink, yoga shed and children’s play area. It has 107 plant varieties, a 1,789-square-metre lawn and a 1,247-square-metre hedge area. A GHMC official said the park fulfilled a long-standing request from Mallapur residents and caters to adults, senior citizens and children.

Raheja Vistas residential complex of approximately 900 families in Nacharam, Hyderabad, with over 3,000 residents, experiences severe air pollution, noise and health risks from chemical factories, pharmaceutical plants, paint manufacturers and plastic production units in Nacharam and Mallapur industrial areas.

Residents report persistent chemical odour especially at night, with sulphur, ammonia, and burnt materials. Nearly 500 children live in the complex, with thousands more attending nearby schools including DPS Nacharam and Johnson Grammar School. Parents express concern about children's health.

Residents were promised adjoining industries would be relocated by 2024, but this has not occurred and pollution levels have worsened. Government promised industry relocation outside ORR by 2022 via GO Ms. No. 20; deadline extended to 2025.

Telangana Pollution Control Board (TGPCB) maintains pollution levels are within permissible limits. Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) sets permissible limits: ammonia 400 µg/m³ (24-hour average) and sulphur dioxide 80 µg/m³ (24-hour average) in residential areas. AIHA odour thresholds: sulphur dioxide 0.3-5 ppm, ammonia 5 ppm.

Consultant pulmonologist Dr Madhava Rao states short-term sulphur dioxide exposure causes coughing, wheezing and bronchospasms at 0.1 ppm; ammonia irritates respiratory tract. Children particularly vulnerable due to developing lungs. Frequent exposure implies cumulative health risks.

PCB regional officer Venkatnarsu questioned how residential apartments were permitted in industrial zone. Environmentalist Subba Rao B.V. advocates air shed regulations similar to water sheds and collective industry accountability like Thailand model. Advocate Agasthya Sharma, president of Raheja Vistas Elite Social Welfare Association, expressed residents feel trapped in harmful environment.
