Chintamaniswar and Laxmi Sagar, two of Bhubaneswar's oldest and most densely populated localities, face severe infrastructure issues: dilapidated roads, poor drainage, inadequate street lighting, and irregular waste disposal. Residents report no ambulance or garbage vehicle access, hazardous conditions for senior citizens and children, and dangerous commuting during monsoon. The periphery of Malihata pond in Laxmi Sagar, previously restored by BMC, remains in disrepair with frequent construction and demolition waste dumping. Residents have lodged repeated complaints without resolution and expressed skepticism on social media about Smart City promises. City mayor Sulochana Das assured that tenders are being floated for road repair and drain construction, with steps to address these two areas soon.
