Two big parks are also located in the locality. Apart from that Nalban and Nicco Park is also within 4 Kms. Big sweet shops like Haldiram, Bhikharam, Tiwari's, and fooding joints like The Rose, Honey da Dhaba are in the area.

Kankurgachi Building Collapse Injures Six, Including Two Children

A section of a KMC-notified dangerous building collapsed in Kankurgachi, injuring six people, while heavy rain has triggered collapses at several Kolkata buildings.

A portion of an old, dilapidated building in Kankurgachi collapsed on Saturday morning, landing on the roof of an adjacent one-storey house. All six people inside the house were injured, including two children and their mother, who suffered serious injuries and were admitted to Maniktala ESI Hospital; the others were discharged after first aid. The Kolkata Municipal Corporation had long ago declared the old building dangerous.

Heavy rainfall over the previous week caused at least six old buildings in Kolkata to cave in; all had received dangerous-building notices. Mayor Hakim said the KMC has begun issuing occupancy certificates to tenants, guaranteeing their right to return after buildings are demolished and rebuilt. Some tenants remain hesitant to leave for fear of losing their housing rights. The KMC urges residents to vacate unsafe buildings but cannot forcibly evict them. Monsoon rainwater collecting on roofs adds weight, which weak foundations may not bear.
