Kalena Agrahara Lake near Bannerghatta Lake, a 7.3-acre water body, received ₹75 lakh from Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme and ₹2.25 crore from state government for rejuvenation.

The sewage treatment plant (STP) has been non-operational for more than a year. Water levels are decreasing as no treated water is being released into the lake. Residents from nearby apartment complexes use the lake for morning and evening walks and are concerned about the defunct STP and low water levels.

In March 2013, Bangalore Development Authority granted Vithola Residential Apartment Owners' Association permission to discharge treated water into the lake. The lake was later handed over to BBMP, which asked the association to halt water discharge during rejuvenation but issued no formal permission letters. No measures have been taken to reopen the STP.

The 7.3-acre Kalena Agrahara Lake, spread across 278 metres main bund off Bannerghatta Road, was an illegal dump yard with continuous raw sewage inflow. Rejuvenation work began in 2017 funded by Rs 75 lakh from Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's MPLADS allocation. Work included sludge removal from lake bed to enhance impounding capacity, strengthening of main bund, formation of ring bund using desilted earth, revetment and turfing. Sewage diversion and natural filtration improved water quality and revived native aquatic and bird biodiversity. The lake strengthened groundwater recharge in surrounding neighbourhoods, acts as flood buffer during monsoon, and emerged as community green space for recreation and environmental awareness.

The Pink Line connects Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere (Swagath Cross Road) via a 2.5-kilometer elevated section and a 13.76-kilometer underground route, making it one of the city's most complex metro projects.
