In 2006, land owner N Veeranna filed a Lokayukta complaint stating his land was surrounded by approximately 25 acres belonging to Township Promoters, a real estate firm. Karnataka High Court directed BDA to provide an 18-metre access road for the Jakkur plantation properties.

Jakkur aerodrome flying school is shifting. Environmentalists and scientists urge the government to develop the aerodrome land as green space rather than real estate. They warn construction could damage the Gandhi Krishi Vijnana Kendra (GKVK), a biodiversity heritage zone located close to the aerodrome. GKVK houses the University of Agricultural Sciences and supports teaching, research, and important plant collections. Scientists argue the aerodrome land offers a rare opportunity to strengthen the city's shrinking greens. Scientist and botanist Ganesan, associated with the Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment, said the land should be converted into a dense green space on the lines of Lalbagh with extensive tree cover and diverse plant species, or as a biodiversity or botanical park complementing GKVK campus. Converting the aerodrome into a green zone would create mini-ecosystems supporting birds, insects, and wildlife. Native plants help Bengaluru act as a green corridor allowing birds and animals to move through the city. If construction is allowed, GKVK could become an ecological "island" surrounded by concrete. Environmentalist Suresh Heblikar said unchecked construction with concrete, steel, and glass has raised temperatures, worsened air pollution, and lowered groundwater levels. He urged converting the aerodrome into a tree park with grasses, shrubs, and small water bodies. NM Ganesh Babu, Director of EcoScape India, said major construction nearby will directly affect GKVK through dust, noise, and vibration. GKVK is separated from Jakkur aerodrome only by a road.

Credai Bengaluru has challenged the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike's requirement for no-objection certificates from Government Flying Training School (GFTS) at Jakkur for commencement and occupancy certificates on residential projects. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has not renewed GFTS's licence since December 2023. DGCA has raised safety observations including reduced runway length and outdated equipment. GFTS has not held meetings for several months, preventing issuance of any NOC. Credai states no clear bylaw mandates the GFTS NOC under BBMP regulations. Residential and commercial developments surrounding GFTS include malls, schools, hospitals, airport flyovers and metro lines. Project delays are mounting due to this procedural bottleneck. Credai's letter to the Karnataka Urban Development Department urges revocation of the NOC mandate to prevent administrative holdups in Bengaluru's growing residential market.

BBMP Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao directed officials to fast-track key road and infrastructure projects in Yelahanka Zone, including construction of a new road within the stormwater drain (SWD) buffer zone in Jakkur. During inspection on Tuesday, he emphasised the area forms an important corridor connecting the international airport and instructed officials to develop alternative link roads.

• 15m-wide SWD and road construction from Yelahanka Kogilu Junction to Jakkur Lake
• Study feasibility of linking this stretch through BWSSB sewage treatment plant near Jakkur Road
• 2.5 km white-topping work on Raithara Santhe Road (500m completed to date)
• Railway overbridge ramp construction near Jakkur

Other directives: revive old Kalyani (sacred pond) near Raitha Santhe, fill with water, clear roadside garbage, and develop aeration walkway at Jakkur Lake.
