Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on December 9, 2025, a plan to remodel the Bhalswa-Jahangirpuri EWS flats into a model settlement. The flats were completed in 2016; Gupta said about 7,400 remained unallotted and deteriorated between 2016 and 2025, with fittings and materials missing. Planned facilities include shops, parking, rickshaw safety provisions, charging stations, a primary school, an Ayushman Arogya Mandir, children’s play areas and other community facilities. Gupta said the government plans to develop a model for Delhi’s slum dwellers during its tenure.

The Delhi High Court dismissed Save India Foundation’s PIL challenging a March 24, 1980 Delhi Waqf Board notification listing Moti Masjid, Jama Masjid and another mosque in Jahangirpuri as Sunni Waqf properties. The NGO alleged the land was acquired by the Delhi government in 1977, compensation was paid to its owners, and the land was handed to the Delhi Development Authority for a planned colony. It argued the mosques were encroachments on public land and should not have been listed as Waqf properties.

Chief Justice D K Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia said the petition was not filed with bona fide motive or in the public interest, and that challenging the notification after 46 years was impermissible. The court said the notification followed an inquiry by the Commissioner of Waqfs and examination of a state government report.

The Delhi High Court reserved its order on a petition challenging alleged encroachment on government land in Jahangirpuri, New Delhi. Lawyer Umesh Chand Sharma said the government acquired land in Jahangirpuri and three or four villages in 1977 and gave it to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to develop as colonies. A 1980 Waqf notification claimed the area belonged to the Waqf. The disputed site includes a religious structure—a mosque or tomb—and a market, according to Sharma.

The Shahi Idgah Management Committee petitioned the court, saying the matter was pending before the Waqf Tribunal and asking that DDA be prevented from installing a board on the land. Justice Jasmeet Singh issued notice to DDA, which opposed the petition as not maintainable. The next date is August 12, along with connected matters.

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) plans to launch its Premium Housing Scheme 2025 in August, offering about 250 flats and 67 car or scooter garages through e-auction. The scheme was approved at a meeting chaired by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena.

• 66 EHS flats in Pocket 9, Nasirpur, Dwarka: ₹38.7 lakh.
• Two SFS Category-II flats in Sector 18, Rohini, and Shalimar Bagh: ₹90 lakh to over ₹1 crore.

Garage reserve prices range from over ₹3.1 lakh to ₹43 lakh; final prices depend on bids. DDA cut commercial-property amalgamation charges from 10% to 1% of circle rate and the auction multiplier from twice to 1.5 times circle rate.

DDA’s Apna Ghar Awaas Yojana 2025 offers 7,500 units, with discounts of 25% on LIG and 15% on EWS, MIG and HIG flats. Launched May 27, it had sold over 850 flats by June 28, including 630 in Narela.
