Chandigarh Revises Collector Rates, Raising Residential Property Costs

Last year, rates rose nearly 130% in sectors 1–12, 96% in sectors 14–37 and 80% in sectors 38 and beyond. In April 2021, commercial property rates were reduced by 10%, industrial plot rates by 5%, and agricultural land rates increased by 10%.

In 2024, the administration decided to calculate collector rates under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. A draft has been released for public comments before final notification. A 10-member committee led by the Deputy Commissioner, with Estate Office, UT Revenue Department and Architect Department members, calculates the rates. New circle rates are scheduled for notification every April 1.
