The Malviya Nagar–Gandhi Nagar corridor began operations on September 6 and carried more than 60,000 passengers in its first 24 days, generating over ₹26 lakh in revenue. Employees are using it to travel to Vijay Nagar, Super Corridor, Gandhi Nagar and the airport area, citing more predictable journey times and lower costs than road travel.

The fare from Malviya Nagar to Gandhi Nagar is ₹65, compared with an estimated ₹150 for a Rapido bike ride, ₹250 for an auto and nearly ₹310 for a cab. The Metro Rail Corporation said passenger numbers towards Gandhi Nagar are rising and operating hours were revised in response to demand and feedback. First trains from both terminals depart at 7:30 am; the last service runs at 8:15 pm. The corridor has 16 stations, including Meghdoot Square, Bapat Square, Heera Nagar and ISBT. Some commuters have sought further fare cuts.

BJP national president Nitin Nabin launched the statewide registration process under the SVAMITVA Yojana at Gandhi Nagar Ground, Indore, on September 17, 2026, PM Narendra Modi’s birthday. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav attended. Around 30,000 people from Indore and nearby areas are expected to receive land and property ownership documents.

The scheme provides ownership records to people who have lived on land or in homes without formal documents. It also prepares rural property records to provide legal recognition. SVAMITVA—Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas—is a Central Sector scheme launched in April 2020 by the Government of India. The Ministry of Panchayati Raj and Survey of India are implementing it, with surveys planned across around 6.62 lakh villages. The scheme aims to reduce land disputes, improve access to bank loans and create digital property records for village planning and development.

Indore’s 11 km elevated Yellow Line extension, connecting Super Corridor-1 to Malviya Nagar Chauraha (Radisson Square), opened on September 5, 2026. The inauguration was attended by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. The extension adds 11 stations, bringing the line to 16 stations across approximately 17 km. Its existing 5.9 km, five-station section between Gandhi Nagar and Super Corridor-1 opened in 2025.

Nearby destinations include colony parks and food stalls at Hira Nagar; Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Statue & Memorial Plaza, Bapat Square Hanuman Mandir and Sukhliya Water Tank Food Lane at Bapat Square; and C21 Mall and Velocity III Miraj Cinemas at Malviya Nagar Chauraha.

Passenger services from Gandhi Nagar to Malviya Nagar Square will begin on September 6, 2026, extending Indore Metro’s operational network from about 6 km, currently ending at Super Corridor-3, to approximately 17 km and 16 stations. The service will run from 9 am to 7 pm, with trains every 15 minutes and more than 80 daily trips.

The extension will be inaugurated on September 5 at 4 pm at Brilliant Convention Centre in Vijay Nagar by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal.

The Automatic Fare Collection system will support tickets through the MPMRCL app, UPI, QR codes, e-wallets and other digital payment options. Passenger offers include a 5% return-ticket discount, 10% off group tickets, and an 8%-15% bonus on eligible app e-wallet recharges; recharges of ₹1,500-₹2,000 receive a maximum 15% bonus.

Following completion of the High Priority corridor, MPMRCL is working on remaining Phase-1 construction. An underground section between Palasia and MG Road is under development with three proposed approaches:

• Route underground from Bengali Square
• Start underground section from Agriculture College instead of Bengali Square (under study)
• Use Race Course Road instead of MG Road

Technical experts will conduct comprehensive surveys and feasibility studies on all three options. A high-level meeting with state representatives and MPMRCL authorities was held to finalize the approach.

Extensive trial runs are underway on the super priority corridor spanning Gandhi Nagar to Super Corridor-03, scheduled to open to the public in August 2026. MPMRCL has set a deadline of 2027 for completion of the entire Phase-1 corridor.
