Delhi Traffic Police submitted a proposal to the New Delhi Municipal Council to connect New Delhi district to Dhaula Kuan flyover to ease traffic in Lutyens' Delhi and reduce travel time to Indira Gandhi International Airport.
Two options proposed:
Flyover or tunnel from Talkatora Stadium moving southwest toward Dhaula Kuan, bypassing at-grade intersections. Route runs through Kautilya Marg, Satya Marg, Niti Marg, Shanti Path, and Vinay Marg (areas with embassies, government offices, residential complexes). Uses grade separation with tunnel sections, elevated stretches, loops, and underpasses. Merges into National Highway 48 and Ring Road at Dhaula Kuan.
Flyover or tunnel from Dayal Chowk near Shankar Road and Vande Mataram Marg intersection, addressing traffic from Karol Bagh and adjacent areas. Route follows Vande Mataram Marg southward with grade-separated elements at key junctions including loops, underpasses, slip roads. Joins Sardar Patel Marg and connects to existing flyover and NH-48 interchange.
Intention is to ease traffic pressure on Sardar Patel Marg, identified as a traffic choke point during peak hours. Proposal submitted two weeks prior; NDMC deliberating on plan.
NBCC to Begin ₹67.62 Crore Roadworks at Netaji Nagar GPRA

NBCC India Ltd is set to relay internal and approach roads at the Netaji Nagar General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) colony, where residential tower structural work is largely complete. The ₹67.62-crore Delhi project by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs includes roads, stormwater drains, utility ducts, concrete cable trenches, solar and conventional street lighting, horticulture and bus shelters. Signage will follow Indian Roads Congress standards.
Construction vehicles, barricades and diversions may temporarily affect traffic on Kidwai Nagar–Ring Road, Dhaula Kuan–Moti Bagh, internal routes to Nauroji Nagar and RK Puram, and vehicles travelling to Bhikaji Cama Place. NBCC will coordinate with Delhi Traffic Police to schedule material movement outside peak hours and place advance signage.
The wider redevelopment includes a school and clubhouse. The tender sets a 12-month construction period followed by two years of operation and maintenance, covering road and pathway sweeping, drain cleaning, horticulture, bus shelters and lighting. Artwork worth 1% of project cost is required under Delhi Urban Art Commission guidelines. Netaji Nagar is one of seven GPRA sites, alongside Sarojini Nagar, Nauroji Nagar, Kasturba Nagar, Mohammadpur, Srinivaspuri and Thyagraj Nagar.
