NBCC cancelled an e-auction of 262 ultra-luxury apartments in Chanakyapuri and is planning a fresh e-auction within the next few days.

NBCC (India) Limited cancelled the e-auction for sale of residential apartments on freehold basis at Avenue Towers, Africa Avenue, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, originally invited under July 17, 2026 Notice Inviting Offer. The company exercised its reserved right to cancel. NBCC will refund in full the Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) and Auction Processing Fee submitted by applicants through the RailTel Corporation of India Limited portal within three working days from August 19 notice date. Although the original application stated the Auction Processing Fee was non-refundable, NBCC refunded it "ex gratia and in good faith, without admission of any liability" and clarified this decision would not constitute precedent for other NBCC tenders or auctions. The company has not specified reasons beyond citing administrative grounds nor announced a date for fresh e-auction. Interested bidders were asked to check NBCC's website for updates on the Africa Avenue project and any future residential unit auction.

NDMC in collaboration with Chanakyapuri Residents' Welfare Association launched a waste management programme covering D1, D2, and Satya Sadan residential blocks in Chanakyapuri.

NBCC (India) Limited is auctioning 262 luxury apartments through e-auction in Delhi's Chanakyapuri area, with starting price over ₹15 crore per flat. Apartments are part of Avenue Tower project in Sarojini Nagar, near the diplomatic enclave. Expected to generate nearly ₹4,400 crore. Proceeds will fund redevelopment of General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) colonies: Sarojini Nagar, Netaji Nagar, Sriniwaspuri and Kasturba Nagar.

Earnest money deposit (EMD) deadline: July 30. Pre-bid meeting: July 24. E-auction: July 31.

Avenue Towers comprises 262 four-bedroom apartments across nine residential towers, each 10 storeys. Two to three apartments per floor connected through skywalks. Saleable areas: approximately 4,200 sq ft, 4,300 sq ft and 4,700 sq ft. Carpet areas: 2,518 to 2,598 sq ft. Three dedicated parking spaces per apartment.

Project features 50,000-square-foot clubhouse, sky gardens, landscaped greens, open-air gym, yoga deck, residents' lounge, pet park, spacious balconies and terraces, tower-specific entrance lobbies, drop-off porches, floor-to-floor height 3.22 metres. RERA registered. Construction expected within two years.

Larger GPRA redevelopment programme estimated at ₹32,000 crore aims to replace 12,970 old government quarters with 21,083 modern residential units, plus commercial spaces, social infrastructure and sustainable urban amenities.

NDMC’s Anupam model segregates waste at source into wet, dry and sanitary waste. Dry waste is sorted into paper, metal, glass, e-waste and non-recyclables; wet and horticultural waste is composted in wire-mesh units on site. E-waste goes to authorised recyclers, compost is distributed free to residents, and surplus is used by NDMC. Segregation has risen from 60–70% to 100% in the colonies, supported by awareness drives, RWA meetings and penalties for mixed waste.

D-1, D-2 and Satya Sadan officers’ flats in Chanakyapuri were declared Anupam Colonies in June 2025. They generate about 300 kg of wet waste daily; 13 composters and 10 horticulture pits have produced around 800 kg of compost. Bapu Dham, declared in September 2025, has over 290 flats; more than 50 penalties were imposed. Recyclables earn its RWA about ₹5,000 monthly. Two composters fill in about 15 days and take 40–45 days to produce compost.

Kaka Nagar became an Anupam Colony on February 4. Its roughly 204 houses have eight sanitation workers and mechanised sweepers. NDMC may add Sarojini Vihar and West Kidwai Nagar. The six colonies also include Bharti Nagar, Aradhna Colony and New Moti Bagh.
