Telangana Housing Board conducted an auction of plots in Chintal area of Quthbullapur. The auction generated Rs 44.24 crore in sales. Plot prices reached Rs 1,14,000 per square yard, marking record-breaking sales for the Housing Board.

Telangana Housing Board conducted an open auction for residential plots in Chintal, Quthbullapur constituency, within GHMC limits. The highest bid reached Rs 1.14 lakh per square yard, setting a record for the locality.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) conducted a two-day demolition drive on Chintal Basti main road connecting Khairatabad with Masab Tank/Banjara Hills on January 21-22, 2025. The road was supposed to be 60 feet wide but had shrunk due to encroachments by shops, buildings, and residential houses on footpaths and road. Demolitions were carried out following traffic police complaints about severely impacted traffic flow. Demolished structures included kiosks, pan shops, chicken centers, flower shops, and footwear shops. Shopkeepers reported receiving no prior warning or notice. Mohammed Zakir, chicken shop owner, reported loss of Rs 1,30,000 and family displacement. Hardware plumbing store owner Asif Mohammed was fined Rs 3,000 for littering. Residents claimed ramps were necessary during monsoon flooding which caused waist-level water accumulation. One property owner stated the house was built in 1978 and had given 50 sq yds to government in 1996 for road expansion; cement road was completed only in 2017. Khairatabad Congress MLA Danam Nagender and Nampally AIMIM MLA Majid Hussain extended support to residents on the second day. Town planning officer Sunitha stated debris would be removed overnight and new road laid in the cleared area.

Illegal constructions in the full tank level (FTL) and buffer zone of Chintal Cheruvu in Chengicherla are partially submerged. According to HMDA maps, more than 20 houses and structures have been constructed on the lake FTL, a zone meant for natural water flow. Structures include commercial operations such as a catering business, with several buildings still under construction. The cadastral and FTL maps prepared in 2013 show the irrigation department was aware for a decade but failed to act. Maps carry signatures of the deputy executive engineer and executive engineer. Residents report continued encroachment and lake shrinkage. Locals have requested HYDRAA to demolish illegal constructions and revive the lake.

The planned bridge across Mir Alam Tank in Hyderabad will connect Shastripuram on the Bengaluru Highway to Chintalmet. It is a 35-metre width, 2.4-kilometre conventional bridge with multiple piers, not a cable-stayed design as speculated. The structure will feature ornamental lighting and a 1.5-metre footpath offering views of Nehru Zoological Park and Mir Mahmood ki Pahadi.

The deepest region of the tank is nearly 12 metres; at other places, 9 metres. Pillars will be raised in the lake with circular junctions at either end for traffic flow.

KNR Constructions awarded the EPC contract for ₹319.24 crore with a 24-month completion deadline. Rights activists expressed concern about environmental impact and loss of lake area through encroachments and infrastructure. The lake has historically shrunk due to STP plants built inside it. Water quality assessed by Telangana State Pollution Control Board in January 2025 showed total coliform count at 540 MPN per 100 ml, making it unsuitable even for recreational purposes.

The bridge is expected to relieve traffic congestion from Bahadurpura Flyover and Aramghar Flyover, routing traffic toward the PVNR Expressway. The Mir Alam Tank was built approximately 220 years ago by the Nizam's Prime Minister Mir Alam as a drinking water source.
