NBCC and HUDCO signed a ₹117 crore MoU to reconstruct residential flats at the Asian Games Village Complex in New Delhi.
Key facts
NBCC and Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd (HUDCO) signed Memorandum of Understanding worth ₹117 crore for development projects across multiple cities including New Delhi, Panchkula, Kaushambi, and Ahmedabad.
Under the agreement, NBCC will reconstruct residential flats at the Asian Games Village Complex in New Delhi. The project also includes a commercial complex in Kaushambi (Ghaziabad), integrated redevelopment of HUDCO land in Panchkula, and construction of new blocks at HUDCO's Regional Office in Ahmedabad.
At Asian Games Village, HUDCO owns several flats and a guest house area that will form part of the redevelopment. The project is a small component of the total development, with finer details yet to be finalised. The RWA is not involved in the process.
Asian Games Village was constructed in 1982 and designed by Raj Rewal. The 35-acre plot contained 500 units based on low-rise, high-density development modelled on Indian 'mohalla' community patterns. The design featured narrow shaded pedestrian streets linking clusters, open spaces, commercial and recreational areas, with peripheral roads connected to cul-de-sac parking squares.
