Commission Orders Immediate Repair After Ambazari Road Accidents

Maharashtra’s human rights commission ordered Nagpur Municipal Corporation to repair Ambazari Road immediately after a gap caused accidents injuring at least five riders.

On 25 July 2025, the Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission initiated a suo motu case against the Nagpur Municipal Corporation Commissioner after a video showed a gap between two portions of Ambazari Road causing accidents that injured at least five two-wheeler riders in quick succession. Chairperson Justice A.M. Badar said the incidents raised concerns about negligence and residents’ human rights. The Commission ordered immediate repairs to prevent further accidents and loss of life, and sought a fact-finding inquiry report from the Commissioner within four weeks. A pen drive containing the video will also be forwarded for review.
