KG Builders announced launch of KG One Global, a commercial office development in Adambakkam near Guindy, Chennai.

• Total built-up area: over 1.45 lakh sq ft
• Structure: two basements, stilt floor, 10-storey building
• Office floor plates: 6,400 sq ft to 14,600 sq ft

Managing Director Haresh Kishor stated the project addresses connectivity, sustainability, and operational efficiency for modern businesses.

• Greater Chennai Corporation has built medians on three sections of Race Course Road in Guindy.
• Residents want similar road dividers at two more locations: near a car service centre and along MGR Street in Bharathi Nagar.
• Motorists from Five Furlong Road, Chakrapani Street and Mount Road take a sharp left and right turn near the median area.
• Two MTC buses recently collided at the median.
• Accidents can happen when motorists from Guindy terminal try to overtake at the sharp bend.
• Medians are also sought to curb wrong-side driving by traffic from Five Furlong Road and Chakrapani Street.
• On Bharathi Nagar MGR Street, motorists take a sharp right turn from Furlong Road.
• Residents want medians installed from the terminal to the junction of Race Course Road, Five Furlong Road and Chakrapani Street for safety.

Save Madambakkam Lake Committee field study identified multiple sewage sources:

• Rainwater canal from Kozhipannai, Maruthi Nagar, ALS Nagar and Sri Bogar Nagar carries sullage
• ASK Nagar residents directly discharge sullage into lake inlet
• Storm water drains on Yeshwanth Nagar East and West Main Roads, Yeshwanth Nagar 4th Street and Bhuvaneshwari Nagar carry grey water
• Canal from Thiruvanchery Lake carries sullage from residential and commercial establishments on Chennai Eastern bypass sides

Tambaram Corporation previously told National Green Tribunal no sewage enters the lake. Corporation claimed UGD project sanction issued for uncovered areas but work delayed by model code of conduct. NGT southern bench directed ecological restoration to prevent further degradation.

• Madras High Court allowed the Tamil Nadu government’s appeal and modified a status quo order protecting Madras Race Club.
• The case concerns 160.86 acres of government land at Guindy, leased to Madras Race Club during the British era.
• The court said the proposed eco-park and multiple ponds are needed to:
• mitigate flooding during monsoons,
• reduce air pollution and AQI levels,
• provide tourism value,
• create a natural habitat for flora and fauna.
• The bench cited the 2015 Chennai floods and warned that Delhi’s recent air-pollution experience should serve as a reminder.
• It referred to an IISc Bengaluru report, “Chennai Floods 2015 – A Rapid Assessment” (May 2016), which said:
• more than 400 lives were lost,
• over 4 million people were affected,
• nearly 1.8 million were displaced,
• around 1.7 million people were housed in 6,605 relief camps,
• estimated economic loss was about $3 billion,
• more than 3.042 million families suffered damage to dwellings,
• nearly 30% of Chennai households reported losses of ₹2 lakh to ₹20 lakh,
• industrial production losses alone were nearly ₹15,000 crore,
• Chennai airport remained closed from December 1 to 6.
• The government said four ponds already dug on the property would help reduce flood impact in Velachery, Adambakkam, Madipakkam, Guindy, Pallikaranai and adjoining areas.
• The proposed eco-park on 118 acres would provide “lung space” for the city.
