Yuvraj Mehta, 27, a software engineer working in Gurugram, died on 18 January after his car plunged into a waterlogged trench at an under-construction site in Sector 150 while he was returning home to Tata Eureka Park. He was trapped for approximately 90 minutes before drowning. Autopsy revealed death by ante-mortem drowning followed by cardiac arrest due to asphyxiation.

Mehta lost control of his Grand Vitara while taking a turn at the Sector 150 intersection, breaking through the ditch boundary. Despite calling his father for help and pleading for assistance for over 1.5 hours, rescue teams arrived without a swimmer. Eyewitness accounts suggest he could have been saved if help arrived 10 minutes earlier. A delivery agent attempted private rescue using a rope but was unsuccessful after 30 minutes.

Police cited fog, insufficient equipment (ropes too short, ladders and cranes unable to bridge the 6-7 foot gap), and delayed rescue team arrival as contributing factors. FIR filed by Mehta's father alleged residents had repeatedly requested Noida authority install barricading and reflectors, with no action taken.

Culpable homicide case registered against Lotus Greens Construction Pvt Ltd and MZ Wiztown Planners Pvt Ltd under sections 105, 106, and 125 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Abhay Kumar, builder and owner of MZ Wiztown Planners Ltd, arrested 20 January. Special investigation team formed to probe circumstances.

A 27-year-old software engineer returning to Tata Eureka Park from Gurugram drowned in a water-filled excavation pit on a vacant plot in Sector 150, Noida, around midnight. His Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara jumped a drain in dense fog and landed in the approximately 50-foot-deep pit, which lacked barricades or warning signs. The victim climbed onto the vehicle roof and called his father, who alerted emergency services. Police, fire department, SDRF, and NDRF teams attempted rescue for nearly 90 minutes using ropes, ladders, and a crane, but fog and the pit's distance from the road hampered efforts. The vehicle sank and his body was recovered using a boat.

Police filed a case under sections 105 (culpable homicide), 106 (causing death by negligence), and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against two builders: MZ Wiztown Planners Ltd and Lotus Greens Construction Pvt Ltd, who own the plot. Lotus Greens stated the plot was transferred in 2019-20 with Noida authority approval. MZ Wiztown's promoter claimed he received the land already excavated and was never granted permission to commence the project.

Noida authority terminated a junior engineer from the Traffic Cell and issued show-cause notices to officers responsible for traffic work in Sector 150. Temporary barricades have been placed at the turn. Police will meet with Noida authority officials to discuss area safety concerns.
