Noida authority seals illegal housing project in Wazidpur

Noida authority sealed an illegal housing project in Wazidpur and demolished structures on 150 acres in floodplain, freeing land valued at ₹480 crore.

Noida authority sealed an illegal housing project in Wazidpur area where developers were selling apartments without layout map approval from the town planning department. Authority also demolished illegally built structures on 150 acres of land in the floodplain area of Hindon river in Sorkha village, valued at approximately ₹480 crore. Developers had illegally developed housing projects and started constructing boundary walls to sell plots. Demolition took four hours with help of 50 police personnel. Authority CEO Lokesh M warned public not to purchase land without verifying legality, as unauthorised land purchases lead to financial losses and authority will demolish any construction. Since January 2024, Noida authority has freed up approximately 200 acres valued at about ₹1,400 crore. Authority also sealed an unauthorised multi-storey building in Wajidpur village built on notified authority-acquired land without requisite permissions. Despite multiple notices and Allahabad high court status quo order in August 2024, illegal construction continued. Authority rejected encroachers' representation on November 4, 2024. Police finally sealed the building on Tuesday.
