The first breakthrough in the 21-km tunnel being constructed between Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai and Shilphata in Thane for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project has been achieved.

The Maharashtra government announced a ₹4,897.19 crore provision for the Kalyan–Badlapur corridor in MMRDA’s 2026–27 budget, presented at a meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The investment aims to ease pressure on suburban rail amid population growth, industrial development and rising road traffic.

MahaRERA Member Mahesh Pathak partly allowed one complaint and dismissed another concerning Arihant Superstructures Ltd’s registered Arihant Aarohi Phase II project in Thane. Both buyers alleged delayed possession, wrongful monetary demands and pressure to buy parking spaces.

For Flat 203, buyers signed an agreement in September 2022, with possession due June 30, 2024, and paid more than ₹91 lakh. The occupancy certificate (OC) was obtained on November 27, 2024, but the developer did not prove it had made a valid possession offer. MahaRERA rejected COVID-19 and phase-wise completion as justifications, and said disputed parking charges outside the agreement could not justify withholding possession.

The developer must pay interest from July 1, 2024, until a valid offer with the OC, at SBI MCLR plus 2%, and hand over possession within 15 days if not already done, subject to legitimate contractual dues. Separate compensation was denied.

The Flat 502 complaint was dismissed: the OC and possession demand were issued November 27, 2024, and the allottee took possession in August 2025. MahaRERA found no Section 18 default after a valid offer; the delay was attributable to the allottee’s unpaid dues.

Two 35th-floor penthouses at Lodha Hanging Gardens, Lodha Palava City, Dombivli, sold for ₹15.59 crore. Each measures 4,754 sq ft; together they were sold with 10 parking spaces at ₹16,400 per sq ft, a local record. Registered on August 29, the sale incurred ₹54.6 lakh in stamp duty and a ₹60,000 registration fee. Buyers were Ali Asgar Khargunwala and Fatema Anguthiwala. The building is under construction and MahaRERA lists completion for March 2030.

In 2024, two Lodha Palava apartments sold at ₹14,000 and ₹15,000 per sq ft. Nearby apartments under construction by Grade A developers are priced at ₹9,500–₹11,000 per sq ft.

Heavy vehicles travelling towards Mahape are being diverted from Shilphata Bridge via the Kalyan Phata–Panvel route to reduce congestion. Vehicles heading towards Nashik can continue using the bridge without restrictions. Only light vehicles are permitted under Shilphata Bridge.
