Shibpur since a long time has been famous for Botanical Garden, Bengal Engineering and Science University (BESU-proposed IIEST) and for musical heritage. The communication/transport facilities has been critical before the 2 nd Hooghly Bridge (Vidyasagar Setu) was built. But now the communication facility is excellent. Rabindra Sadan or Chowrighee Road is a 10 minutes distance from Mandirtala. Now There is a super class Shoping mall (AVANI) and very big Housing projects are being built in sorrounding area. The Latest & splendid development is the Shifting of Mahakaran at Mandirtala from October 1st, 2013. And the Central Kolkata Bus Depot (for short and long-run Bus Services for local and inter-state bus services (both State & private) is also on the making with a tremendous speed (24 x 7) at Mandirtala. Which means Shibpur Mandirtala area is going to be the core of the heart of Kolkata.
