HSVP Probes Gurgaon Plot Auction After Corner Plots Fetch Less

HSVP is investigating why two corner plots in Gurgaon’s Sectors 23 and 23A fetched less than comparable plots and why their LOIs were delayed.

Key facts

Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) ordered an inquiry into the auction of two residential corner plots and delays in issuing their letters of intent (LOIs). The authority had auctioned five plots in Sectors 23 and 23A: three general-category plots on Jan 29 and two corner plots on Feb 4. Each plot measured 286 square metres. The corner plots fetched ₹5.5 crore and ₹5.3 crore, although corner plots would ordinarily command a premium. The three general-category plots of the same size in the same sector fetched substantially more. The inquiry will examine the bid disparity, possible e-auction portal issues and losses from the LOI delay. HSVP has not concluded that the portal was hacked or suffered a technical failure.
