Noida Authority will hire an agency to clear 7.5 lakh tonnes of legacy waste from the Sector 145 dumpsite through bio-remediation. The contractor must complete the work within 24 months and set up treatment facilities. Residents have long demanded that the Authority stop trucks from dumping waste at the site.

At its 219th board meeting last month, the Authority approved a 300-tonne-per-day solid waste management plant to generate bio-CNG. It will be located either in Sector 145 or at Astoli village to handle the city’s rising garbage load.

Noida Authority’s 223rd board meeting approved a policy allowing builders to pay dues according to completed flats, helping buyers register homes previously held up by missing NOCs. It also approved registrations for current owners of cooperative-housing flats sold through GPA since 1996, subject to committee NOC, transfer fees, certificates and charges of 2.5%–15%.

Builders taking zero-period benefits under the Amitabh Kant policy must pay remaining dues or face agreement cancellation; no further wait for the OTS was approved. Farmers will receive ₹6,459 per sq m plus a 5% आबादी plot, compared with earlier rates of ₹5,324 without that plot and ₹4,224 with it. For New Noida phases 1–2, compensation and 6% plots will follow Greater Noida terms; phases 3–4 will follow Yamuna Authority terms, including 7% plots.

Other approvals: a corpus fund for future city maintenance; a common industrial-policy committee for Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna authorities; a Sector 145 thermolysis waste-to-energy facility for dry and RDF waste; company maintenance of the Sector 94 medicine park; ₹315 crore for a 12-storey Authority building; a 30-month extension to Tata’s LED-lighting project, operating since 2019; and 13,347.18 sq m in Sector 153 for a police commissioner’s office.

The Union Cabinet approved an 11.56-km extension of the Noida Metro Rail Project from Sector 142 to the existing Botanical Garden station. The elevated corridor will add eight stations; when operational, the Noida and Greater Noida metro network will total 61.62 km.

At Botanical Garden, passengers can interchange with the Delhi Metro’s Blue Line (Noida City Centre–Dwarka Sector 21) and Magenta Line (Janakpuri West–Botanical Garden), which provides airport access. The corridor will serve commercial centres Advant Business Park (Sector 142), Skymark One Mall (Sector 98) and Mall of Noida (Sector 93); corporate offices including Microsoft (Sector 145), TCS (Sector 157), Infosys, Adobe and Oracle (Sectors 132, 135 and 127); Amity University (Sector 125); and Max Super Specialty Hospital (Sector 128). The project aims to improve access to residential and business areas, reduce congestion and travel times, and cut carbon emissions. Narendra Modi said the extension would boost ease of living and Noida’s development.

At least 15 companies submitted proposals to construct two new underpasses on the Noida Expressway. The civil department will select a successful bidder within two months.

Sultanpur underpass:

• Serves: Wish Town, Sultanpur, Sectors 128, 129, 105, 108

Jhatta village underpass:

• Serves: multiple IT firms including Tata Consultancy Services campus and business parks

• Deadline: 18 months

Both will use diaphragm wall technology requiring traffic diversions during construction. Currently, four small underpasses exist at Sector 97, Sultanpur, Advant, and Jhatta village, plus five large underpasses at Hajipur, Sector 96, Panchsheel Inter College, Advant building, and Sector 148 along the expressway. At least 100,000 people live in Sectors 128, 129, 130, which host IT firms, schools, academic institutions, and hospitals.
