Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav performed the bhoomi pujan for a 60-foot-wide road in Pragati Nagar, western Indore. He said it would ease congestion and improve daily commutes for residents of Pragati Nagar and nearby colonies. Bhargav compared western Indore’s infrastructure development to the transformation previously seen in Vijay Nagar, citing modern intersections in Pragati Nagar and Rajendra Nagar. MLA Madhu Verma, BJP representatives, municipal officials and residents attended the ceremony. Nearly ₹30 crore of development works have been completed in the ward, the mayor said.

The Indore Municipal Corporation will fine pet owners ₹500 to ₹5,000 if their dogs defecate in public places. Bhargav urged residents to adopt rooftop solar under the Har Ghar Solar campaign and announced he would travel by two-wheeler every Friday as part of a No Car Day initiative.

The Indore administration removed the city bus stand from Rajwada Circle, making a trial measure permanent by restricting bus entry due to traffic jams caused by queued buses.

Previously, approximately 70 buses on 12 different routes stopped at Rajwada. They now halt at Nandlalpura, Nagar Nigam, and Machhli Bazaar instead.

Routes serving Rajendra Nagar, Rangwasa, Footi Kothi, Gangwal, Chandan Nagar, Airport, and Bhawarkuan previously connected through Rajwada to destinations including Dewas Naka, Vijaynagar, Khajrana, and Ring Road.

Passengers now walk approximately one kilometre between Machhli Bazaar and Nagar Nigam to access connecting buses, creating particular hardship for elderly, disabled, women, and child commuters.

Rajwada has served as a key transit hub since 2006. While traffic congestion at the circle has reduced, the administration acknowledges coordination issues and is working on solutions balancing traffic management with commuter convenience. AICTSL CEO Arth Jain stated buses are currently routed around rather than through the area.

Collector Asheesh Singh said the road from LIG Square to Navlakha should be widened from 30 metres to almost double; the LIG Square–Dewas road should also be widened. A plan is being prepared. Experts suggested elevated bridges from Radisson Square to Vijay Nagar and at Malwa Mill Square and Scheme Number 140 Square to ease traffic. The proposals were discussed at a Road Safety Committee meeting on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, chaired by MP Shankar Lalwani at the Residency. MLAs Madhu Verma and Golu Shukla and officials from the district, police, Indore Municipal Corporation, Smart City and Indore Development Authority attended. Lalwani called for contractor accountability, including FIRs, when faulty road or bridge construction, speed breakers or indicators cause accidents, and strict action against speeding. He also urged enforcement against drunk driving. Madhu Verma flagged bus-related problems at Rajiv Gandhi and Rajendra Nagar squares. Illegal private-bus parking on the Palda–RTO road and encroachment at Mangalia toll post were also raised.
