The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) began construction on the Lajpat Nagar–Saket G Block corridor, part of Phase IV’s Golden Line (Line-11). A groundbreaking and first test pile were held near Pushpa Bhawan in Saket. Rail Vikas Nigam Limited is the executing agency. The corridor is the first stretch beyond Phase IV’s priority corridors to enter physical construction.

The fully elevated route will have eight stations: Lajpat Nagar, Andrews Ganj, GK-1, Chirag Delhi, Pushpa Bhawan, Saket District Centre, Pushp Vihar and Saket G Block. It will serve residential and commercial hubs including Greater Kailash-1, Saket and Pushp Vihar. Interchanges with the Violet and Pink Lines will be available at Lajpat Nagar and with the Magenta Line at Chirag Delhi, making Lajpat Nagar a triple-interchange station.

Trains are expected to carry around 900 passengers per trip, with up to 300 per coach. Projected ridership is over 1.2 lakh passengers daily by 2041.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) began construction on the Saket G Block–Lajpat Nagar section of the Golden Line (Line 11) on December 12, 2025. The 8-kilometre elevated corridor branches from the IGI Airport–Tughlaqabad corridor and is scheduled for completion in 2029. Its eight stations are Lajpat Nagar, Andrews Ganj, Greater Kailash-1, Chirag Delhi, Pushpa Bhawan, Saket District Centre, Pushp Vihar and Saket G Block. Lajpat Nagar will connect the Violet, Pink and Golden lines; Chirag Delhi will connect with the Magenta Line. DMRC said the corridor will improve access to residential hubs, institutions, schools and government offices in south Delhi. Initial earthwork is under way near Pushpa Bhawan; traffic permissions and diversions are not currently required. Rail Vikas Nigam Limited is executing the package. The corridor was approved by the Union Cabinet in March 2024 as part of Metro Phase 4.

DMRC held a groundbreaking ceremony and began major civil works with the first test pile on the Lajpat Nagar–Saket G Block corridor at Pushpa Bhawan near Saket on December 12, 2025. It is the first Phase IV section to begin physical construction.

Inderlok–Indraprastha and Rithala–Narela corridors are undergoing pre-construction activities.

Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways, will execute the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Phase IV link between Lajpat Nagar and Saket G Block. Valued at approximately ₹447.42 crore, the project is expected to take 36 months and is RVNL’s first project for DMRC.

The work includes part design and construction of a 7.298-kilometre elevated viaduct and seven elevated station platforms. The planned stations are Saket G Block, Pushp Vihar, Saket District Centre, Pushpa Bhawan, Chirag Delhi, Greater Kailash-1, Andrews Ganj and Lajpat Nagar. Each station will have a 74-metre-long platform.

Delhi Metro’s Golden Line construction has disrupted Mehrauli-Badarpur (MB) Road for over two years, affecting daily travel through Sangam Vihar, Deoli, Khanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Madangir, Pushp Vihar and Saket. Metro piers along the central verge have narrowed both carriageways, worsening congestion. Commuters face dust, debris, uneven road surfaces and waterlogged potholes; sections near Khanpur and Ambedkar Nagar were submerged after moderate rain on Monday. Residents say waterlogging can follow a 10-minute drizzle, roadside construction debris reduces visibility, and motorcyclists and pedestrians face safety hazards. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation had said it was regularly sprinkling water to control dust, but residents say the measures are infrequent and insufficient. Despite repeated complaints, they report little improvement as the monsoon intensifies and construction continues.
