Villagers blamed the administration for failing to repair the damaged embankment despite repeated complaints. The embankment had developed a leak several days earlier and residents repeatedly informed officials but no effective repair work was carried out. The breach led to confrontation between villagers and irrigation department officials. A junior engineer who reached the spot was surrounded and held hostage by residents raising slogans against the department. Police from Parsa Bazaar police station arrived around 3 am.

Patna’s District Magistrate inspected widening work on the Phulwarisharif–Janipur road and directed officials to speed up construction. The Road Construction Department is widening and strengthening the two-lane, approximately 10.5-kilometre AIIMS Golambar–Janipur–Painapur–Neva corridor towards the Patna Ring Road. Announced during a state development tour in February 2025, the project is to be completed on schedule; the Executive Engineer of Road Division Patna West was directed to ensure this. A flyover near Naubatpur Lakh is being built by the Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation, with officials also instructed to accelerate work.
Officials expect improved connectivity to support western Patna, including Phulwari Sharif, AIIMS, Danapur and Naubatpur, and ease congestion and access to health and educational institutions. More than Rs 10,871 crore in development initiatives were announced for Patna district during the tour; several are being implemented and monitored by senior officials, including the deputy development commissioner.

Vehicles were trapped for several hours on Tuesday evening. Traffic personnel struggled to manage the wedding-season rush. Commuters said the jam extended from Chitkhora flyover to Saket Vihar Mor, and residents of Mitra Mandal Colony said police failed to provide a solution. The congestion raised concerns about emergency access; several important healthcare institutions are located along the road.
