Nine revenue villages within Pattanam panchayat in Sulur taluk experience acute drinking water shortage. Residents submitted petition to Minister V Sampath Kumar and district administration. Also demanded safety crossing on Kochi-Salem National Highway for city access. Issue unresolved for over 3 years despite prior demands.

Panchayat officials boycotted assembly elections to highlight the issue. TWAD Board criticised for unprecedented distribution practice. Sulur block official assured action and stated a plan to bring additional water quantities expected within two months.

Residents of Pattanam panchayat, near Sulur, staged a protest by planting saplings in waterlogged, unpaved roads. Recent rainfall rendered roads in Kaveri Nagar and Ranga Nagar slushy and inaccessible. Key issues: absence of stormwater drains and bitumen-topped roads. A resident stated: "For 15 years, there has been no development. Drinking water is supplied once every 12 days, forcing nearly half the residents to purchase water. Roads have remained damaged for years, and the panchayat frequently cites shortage of funds. Pipeline works have also left several stretches dug up." Residents demanded immediate road laying and proper drainage systems, warning of escalated protests if authorities failed to respond. Block Development Officer said IOCL pipeline work is underway and road restoration will commence after completion. District Collector and Corporation Commissioner instructed officials to begin immediate repair and reconstruction of Ganapathy–Kanuvai Road via Maniyakkarapalayam, Thudiyalur–Marudhamalai Road, and Ramanathapuram–Chettipalayam Road via Nanjundapuram.
