NGGO Colony is a nice residential locality on the Mettuplayam Road, in route to Ooty about 9 Km from Coimbatore city. Plenty of serene independent houses with lots of open space & playgrounds, away from the hustle & bustle of the city, though easily reached by well connected bus services to the interiors of the colony. Good private & govt. schools located within NGGO colony. Also close to couple of Engineering & Medical colleges.

NGGO Colony Railway Gate to Close for ₹44 Crore Bridge Work

The railway gate at Asokapuram in NGGO Colony will close during construction of a ₹44 crore overbridge, with light-vehicle traffic diverted.

Key facts

The railway level crossing at Asokapuram village in NGGO Colony will remain closed to enable construction of a ₹44 crore Railway Over Bridge (ROB). The crossing closes at least 15 times a day, prompting the State Highways Department to propose the bridge.

The ROB will begin near South Indian Bank on NGGO Colony Road and end near the Asian Paints office by Teachers’ Colony. The crossing connects NGGO Colony with Idikarai, Chengalipalayam and Kovilpalayam, and provides a route to Annur, Avinashi, Gobichettipalayam, Sathyamangalam and Erode. Heavy vehicles use it to avoid entering Coimbatore. Police have announced traffic diversions; the route from NGGO Colony to Kovilpalayam will be closed to light motor vehicles during construction.
