Finding a suitable home in metropolitan areas poses a significant challenge for middle-class families. When discussing affordable housing projects, it often transpires that such homes are either situated in remote fringe locations or suffer due to inferior design, substandard construction materials, and limited living space. Essentially, this situation indicates that buyers must frequently compromise on their expectations. Numerous real estate companies are introducing housing options priced between 10 to 20 lakhs; however, a considerable portion of these offerings falls short of quality standards. Moreover, individuals working in prominent metro cities often find it unfeasible to relocate to smaller towns for housing solutions, particularly in tier II and tier III cities.
In my view, it is imperative to establish design standards for builders. When developers provide affordable housing, it is crucial that cost-cutting measures do not adversely impact the quality of design and the materials utilized for construction.
