The cost of construction of these flats is too high despite free land to NBCC. Moreover lakhs of trees would be cut resulting in the otherwise poluted Delhi. This NDMC area is a green cover area. The claim of restoration of trees would take at least forty to fifty years to grow fully. It does not look a viable plan. Gastation period of plan is too long of five years not consonence with the present advance technology. The availability of flats for Central Government employees would double only depriving housing for employees when compared to area available and raising multistoried buildings.minimum of 10 stories.

Netaji Nagar Land Exempted From Tree Act Area Limit

Delhi’s lieutenant governor exempted 16.06 hectares in Netaji Nagar from the tree-law area cap, allowing review of a proposal to transplant 1,877 trees.

A gazette notification issued on August 18 exempts 16.06 hectares in south Delhi’s Netaji Nagar from the one-hectare limit under the Delhi Preservation of Trees Act, 1994, clearing the way for consideration of a proposal to transplant or fell 1,877 trees for redevelopment of the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) colony. NBCC (India) Limited applied for permission.

The lieutenant governor granted the exemption under Section 29 after the tree officer sought it because the project exceeds the limit under Section 9(3). The exemption is not permission to transplant or fell trees. The application will be examined separately by the tree officer, West Forest Division, under the Act and Delhi Preservation of Trees Rules, 1996, with instructions to minimise the number of affected trees.

The outer boundary covers 16.5449 hectares, including 0.4849 hectares not exempted. The same provision was used for tree-transplantation proposals for Central Vista and Barapullah flyover projects last year.

NBCC to Begin ₹67.62 Crore Roadworks at Netaji Nagar GPRA

NBCC will begin road and related infrastructure works at Netaji Nagar GPRA, with construction traffic and diversions expected to temporarily affect nearby roads.

NBCC India Ltd is set to relay internal and approach roads at the Netaji Nagar General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) colony, where residential tower structural work is largely complete. The ₹67.62-crore Delhi project by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs includes roads, stormwater drains, utility ducts, concrete cable trenches, solar and conventional street lighting, horticulture and bus shelters. Signage will follow Indian Roads Congress standards.

Construction vehicles, barricades and diversions may temporarily affect traffic on Kidwai Nagar–Ring Road, Dhaula Kuan–Moti Bagh, internal routes to Nauroji Nagar and RK Puram, and vehicles travelling to Bhikaji Cama Place. NBCC will coordinate with Delhi Traffic Police to schedule material movement outside peak hours and place advance signage.

The wider redevelopment includes a school and clubhouse. The tender sets a 12-month construction period followed by two years of operation and maintenance, covering road and pathway sweeping, drain cleaning, horticulture, bus shelters and lighting. Artwork worth 1% of project cost is required under Delhi Urban Art Commission guidelines. Netaji Nagar is one of seven GPRA sites, alongside Sarojini Nagar, Nauroji Nagar, Kasturba Nagar, Mohammadpur, Srinivaspuri and Thyagraj Nagar.
