NHAI removed a cracked 8 mm metal sheet from the Delhi-to-Jaipur carriageway of the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway at Narsinghpur. The sheet, installed by GMDA on July 8, followed a road cave-in on July 7 at about 4.30pm that led to two lanes being closed. The concrete beneath the sheet has been strengthened, and NHAI planned to repair the surface with bitumen by Thursday evening. GMDA said pipeline work under the highway is complete and stormwater at Narsinghpur is being diverted to a newly constructed downstream drain. The removed sheet will be kept nearby for emergencies in case the incident recurs.

NHAI will prepare a Detailed Project Report for a three-kilometre elevated corridor at Narsinghpur, between Hero Honda Chowk and Kherki Daula on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway. The proposal was discussed by NHAI chairman Santosh Kumar and GMDA chief executive PC Meena at NHAI headquarters in Delhi. Overflow from the Badshahpur drain regularly floods the stretch during monsoon, disrupting traffic. GMDA built a temporary diversion drain last year and is planning a permanent diversion; it is constructing a storm-water drain to Badshahpur. NHAI will build a culvert on NH-48, with both agencies preparing an execution plan.

At Rajiv Chowk, NHAI plans two elevated grade separators: a left-turn ramp for Delhi-to-Sohna traffic and a right-turn ramp for Sohna-to-Delhi traffic, including service-road access. The work is to be expedited to improve connectivity between the Sohna and Mumbai Expressways; stakeholder consultations will address land issues. GMDA identified NH-48 stretches for foot overbridges, which NHAI will build and hand over for maintenance. Joint inspections will address monsoon flooding at underpasses.

Haryana’s chief secretary directed authorities to expedite land acquisition for a drain along the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, addressing persistent waterlogging near Narsinghpur on NH-8.

A section of Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway caved in at Narsingpur on Tuesday evening after heavy rain. The cave-in occurred where GMDA is constructing a stormwater drainage culvert beneath NH-8 using trenchless technology. The crater measured 10 feet long and 8 feet wide. Two lanes on the carriageway towards Jaipur were closed, and vehicles were diverted. Tailbacks extended to IFFCO Chowk, with commuters stranded for more than two hours during rush hour.

The GMDA's underground pipeline laying project near Narsinghpur on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway faces setbacks from a gas pipeline and two high-tension powerlines running underneath the highway, obstructing the pipe installation path. The project, launched in June 2026 with NHAI, aims to prevent monsoon waterlogging on the service road near Narsinghpur village, which has suffered flooding for 15 years with water levels reaching two to three feet.

Three trenchless pipelines will divert rainwater from the Delhi-Jaipur carriageway to a newly constructed drain on the eastern side, connecting to drains from Radhakrishan Garden towards Badshahpur. Approximately 95% of trenchless piping work is completed; three to four metres of pipeline laying remains. Work has stalled after encountering the gas pipeline (Indraprastha Gas Limited) and power line cables requiring shifting coordination.

Eight high-capacity pumps have been installed: four 50 HP, one 65 HP, and three 70 HP pumps for rapid stormwater evacuation during heavy rains. Sump wells are under construction to improve rainwater collection and pumping.
