The KNG Pudur-Subramaniyampalayam state highway stretch in Coimbatore, a 3.7 km vital link connecting Thadagam-Anaikatti state highway with Mettupalayam Road (NH), has become unmotorable due to underground drainage (UGD) work. The Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) Board, executing work for Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC), did not restore the road after installing pipelines. Frequent digging and poor restoration have caused severe traffic congestion and increased accident risk. Recent rainfall turned the road into a slush pool. Residents report several minor accidents, including a biker falling on loose gravel and mud. The UGD project is expected to be completed by July 2026. CCMC Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabakaran stated the authority will complete as much work as possible during summer and restore damaged sections soon.
