Nilgiri Express Trains to Get LHB Coaches from March 3

Southern Railway will replace conventional coaches on Chennai Central–Mettupalayam Nilgiri Express trains 12671 and 12672 with LHB coaches from March 3 and 4.

Southern Railway will replace conventional coaches on the Chennai Central–Mettupalayam Nilgiri Express trains (12671 and 12672) with Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches from March 3 and 4, respectively.

The new composition will include one AC First Class, two 2-Tier AC, three 3-Tier AC, two 3-Tier Economy AC, eight Sleeper Class, four General Second Class coaches, one luggage-cum-brake van with accommodation for differently abled passengers, and one power car.

Train 12671 departs Chennai Central daily at 9.05 pm and arrives at Mettupalayam at 6.20 am the next day; it gets LHB coaches from March 3. Train 12672 departs Mettupalayam daily at 9.20 pm and arrives at Chennai Central at 6.25 am the next day; its LHB coaches begin March 4. LHB coaches were originally developed by Linke Hofmann Busch in Germany and are now manufactured in India.
