A few hours of heavy rain on Saturday, July 18, caused widespread waterlogging on arterial roads and in residential areas. A minor bridge linking Lalpur and Kokar via Bhaba Nagar was submerged; flooding also affected Main Road near Anjuman Plaza and the road outside Seva Sadan Hospital, where water reached knee depth.
Ranchi Municipal Corporation deployed quick-response teams and asked residents to report waterlogging at 1800-570-1235. Pundag river water entered homes along Panch Mandir Road in the Argora-Piper Toli area, ward 36. Residents said the guard wall was too low and had requested during the previous monsoon that it be raised by at least 3 feet. Engineers surveyed the site, prepared a plan and sent it to the RMC board, but work has not begun. Ward councillor Mahadev Bhengra said the RMC had been alerted and a vehicle arranged for drainage.
