Pune's Dhanori-Lohegaon residents protest poor civic amenities

Residents of Pune's fast-growing Dhanori-Lohegaon area protested broken roads, irregular water supply, inadequate sewage, poor garbage management, and lack of public transport.

Despite being among the fastest-growing residential areas within PMC limits, Dhanori and Lohegaon suffer from severe lack of basic civic amenities. Residents report broken roads, irregular water supply, inadequate sewage systems, poor garbage management, lack of public transport, and unlit streets. The Dhanori Lohegaon Residents Association (DLRA) held a protest on Monday on Bharat Mata Road, led by DLRA president Girish Jaiwal. Bharat Mata Road was declared a DP road by PMC, but development has stalled due to land acquisition delays. PMC claims discussions are ongoing with PMRDA for the land, ongoing for years. PMC deputy commissioner Madhav Jagtap visited the protest site and promised a joint meeting with local landowners, society representatives, and residents association members to study issues and develop a concrete action plan. Jagtap said some land portions are in acquisition process or yet to be acquired before roads can be developed. Long-term solutions will be discussed with all stakeholders.
