Heavy rain caused widespread waterlogging in East Ahmedabad, disrupting traffic and residents’ daily lives. The Mohammadpura underbridge on SP Ring Road was closed. Waterlogging in the Khodiyar Temple complex near Hatkeshwar Circle temporarily stopped darshan.
Bhaipura-Hatkeshwar and Khokhra wards were affected. Rainwater inundated Udgam Archana High School’s campus. Waterlogging was reported from Hatkeshwar’s 132-foot Ring Road to Guruji Bridge, and in low-lying residential societies near Kharicut Canal.
Authorities received 28 calls on 112 and 37 on 1095 about traffic jams caused by waterlogging. Three Vasna Barrage gates were opened by 1.5 feet; the river level stood at 129 feet. Authorities were working to keep it around 126 feet to prevent further water accumulation in the city.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation completed demolition of the Hatkeshwar flyover in Khokhra, months after work began on Aug. 21, 2025. A new road replacing the flyover is under construction and nearing completion. Local residents, traders and drivers celebrated the demolition with firecrackers. The bridge, built for ₹34 crore, deteriorated within five years of its inauguration, was closed and became the focus of sustained protests by residents demanding its removal. Former councillor George Dias welcomed its demolition and called the bridge a symbol of AMC corruption, saying its poor construction quality was apparent within years of opening.
