The bridge arm connecting Madakulam and TVS Nagar, with a limited-use subway, was completed in 2015; work on the Jaihindpuram arm was suspended after residents challenged land acquisition in court. NABARD and the State Highways’ Rural Roads Wing acquired land after the legal dispute was settled. The second arm was inaugurated in November 2022 and completed on April 30, 2025, at a cost of ₹18.37 crore. The 730-metre structure has 47 piers, 51 spans, a subway, service roads and a stormwater drainage channel. It connects western areas including Palanganatham, Tirupparankundram and Kalavasal with TVS Nagar, Jaihindpuram, Villapuram, Avaniapuram and Madurai airport, easing congestion on arterial roads.
