The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) demolished an unauthorised structure inside Joggers Park in Shivtej Nagar, Ward No. 11, Bhosari Assembly constituency on Wednesday using two JCB machines with heavy police deployment.

The structure was allegedly being built as a temple in the public park. Environmental activists, local residents and BJP corporators opposed the construction, claiming it was unauthorised and illegal.

A political dispute arose between BJP and NCP, with former NCP mayor Mangala Kadam confronting BJP MLA Mahesh Landge over the construction. Kadam alleged Landge issued a supporting letter. Controversy intensified over rumours the construction was funded through MLA development funds.

The District Planning Committee confirmed no permission had been granted for the project. The municipal administration proceeded with demolition as part of anti-encroachment drive to protect public spaces. Environmentalists celebrated the action.

PCMC demolished an under-construction building at Joggers Park in Shivtejnagar area of Chikhali on Wednesday. The action was carried out in Ward No. 11 under F regional office jurisdiction. Nearly 1,500 square metres of encroached public land was cleared. Officials stated the action was part of PCMC's ongoing drive against encroachments and unauthorised constructions on public spaces across the city. The demolition followed a political controversy over the alleged illegal religious structure.
